The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to procure around 200 advanced night vision goggles (NVGs) to improve the operational capability of its Mi-17V5 and Dhruv helicopter fleets. These NVGs, specifically the Netro NB-3101 developed by MKU, will provide pilots with superior night vision capabilities for flying and maneuvering during low-light conditions.

The Netro NB-3101 utilizes advanced optics and a Gen III Image Intensifier sensor to deliver high-resolution, stereoscopic vision. This allows pilots to navigate effectively at night and in low-visibility environments. Pakistani lawmaker Syed Mustafa Kamal drew a comparison between India’s achievements and the precarious situation in Karachi, by mentioning India’s moon landing mission. The Muttahida Quami Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) leader said that while India is landing on the moon, Karachi is making news of children being killed by falling in open gutters.

“Today, the condition in Karachi is that, while the world is going to the moon, children are dying by falling into gutter in Karachi. On the same screen, there is news that India landed on the moon, and just after two seconds, the news is that a child died in an open gutter in Karachi,” Kamal said in his address to the Parliament on Wednesday.

The Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Union of India to deport 17 foreigners languishing in a Assam detention centre, noting there is no offence registered against them. A bench of Justices Abhay S Oka and Ujjal Bhuyan noted a report submitted by the State Legal Services Authority which stated that there are 17 declared foreigners detained in the detention centre in Assam.

“We are of the view that Union of India must take immediate steps for deporting these 17 foreigners as there is no offence registered against them,” the bench said.

An infiltration bid was foiled on Thursday by the Army on the Line of Control (LoC) in the Tangdhar sector of J&K’s Kupwara district, said officials, adding that two terrorists have been killed.

Officials said that the Army engaged a group of terrorists in sustained gunfire after they made an attempt to sneak into this side of the LoC in the sector. “Two intruding terrorists have been hit in this operation, however, the operation is still going on and exact details are awaited,” officials said.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday filed a charge sheet in the court here against the 10th accused in the dropping of weapons from Pakistan by drones in J&K’s Kathua in 2022, an official statement said.

The 10th accused charged in the case is Zakir Hussain alias Sonu of LeT against whom the case had been registered in 2022 by the agency. Nine other accused have already been named in the charge sheet under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Arms Act, and the Explosive Substances Act, the NIA statement said.
