India’s state-owned defense manufacturer, Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL), recently held discussions with Mr. Eyal Ben-Oz, Deputy Defence Attaché of the Israeli Embassy in India. The meeting focused on exploring potential areas of cooperation between the two nations in the defense sector.

The discussions centered on AWEIL’s product portfolio, its vision for defense exports, and identifying potential avenues for collaboration with Israel’s advanced defense industry. This meeting signifies India’s growing openness to international partnerships in the defense sector, aiming to leverage expertise and co-develop cutting-edge technologies.

During the interaction, AWEIL also showcased the Joint Venture Protective Carbine (JVPC), a product manufactured by Small Arms Factory Kanpur. The JVPC is designed for close-quarter combat situations and offers several unique features:

  • Compact and Lightweight: The JVPC’s 5.56 x 30mm caliber and bullpup configuration make it ideal for maneuverability in confined spaces.
  • Single-Handed Firing: This carbine’s design allows for single-handed operation, enhancing its utility in dynamic combat scenarios.
  • Modular Design: The JVPC boasts a retractable buttstock, integral grip with 30-round magazine housing, modular trigger mechanism, and Picatinny rails for various attachments.
  • Advanced Sighting Systems: The carbine comes equipped with a multi-weapon reflex sight for day operations and optional visible and invisible laser designators.
  • Versatility: Accessories like silencers, slings, and bayonets further enhance the JVPC’s adaptability to diverse combat environments.

The JVPC is envisioned as a replacement for the 9mm carbine currently used by Indian forces. This meeting with the Israeli representative highlights AWEIL’s commitment to promoting its indigenous defense products and forging strategic partnerships to bolster India’s defense capabilities.
