Zoho Corporation, the global tech giant headquartered in Chennai, has announced an investment in Yali Aerospace, a promising drone startup based in Tanjavur, Tamil Nadu. This strategic move highlights Zoho’s commitment to fostering innovation and supporting indigenous technology ventures in India.

Yali Aerospace is led by a passionate husband-and-wife team, Dinesh Baluraj and Anugraha Ganeshan. After spending time in the Netherlands, they returned to their hometown of Tanjavur with a dream – to revolutionize medical logistics in India.

Yali Aerospace has developed a fixed-wing drone with a unique capability – vertical take-off and landing (VTOL). This innovative design allows for swift and efficient deployment, eliminating the need for conventional runways. This is a game-changer for delivering critical medical supplies, like medicines and organs, to remote hospitals across India, often located in hard-to-reach areas.

Yali’s drones boast an impressive range of 150 kilometers, allowing them to cover significant distances. They can carry payloads of up to 7 kilograms, making them suitable for transporting essential medical supplies. With a maximum speed of 155 kilometers per hour, these drones promise fast and reliable deliveries, potentially saving lives in time-sensitive situations.

Zoho’s investment in Yali Aerospace signifies a strong belief in the potential of drone technology to address critical challenges within the Indian healthcare sector. This collaboration between a leading tech giant and a promising startup has the potential to revolutionize medical delivery systems and improve accessibility of crucial healthcare services in remote regions.
