The Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) initiative has issued a challenge to Indian private sector companies. The goal? Develop a groundbreaking software module for predictive maintenance of critical machinery aboard naval vessels.

This innovative module will play a crucial role in ensuring the operational readiness of India’s naval fleet.

The module should forecast potential defects and predict the remaining useful life of critical machinery.

It should leverage historical data from various sources from the Defect and Repair Transaction (DART) tables within a ship’s Comprehensive Maintenance Management System (CMMS). By utilizing this comprehensive data set, the module should build a robust causal model using contemporary machine learning or artificial intelligence techniques.

This challenge opens doors for private companies with expertise in data analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to contribute to India’s naval defense capabilities. Developing this indigenous technology aligns with the “Make in India” vision, reducing dependence on foreign solutions for critical defense needs.
