The Defence Research and Development Organisation’s (DRDO) CSIR-Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIR-CSIO) is looking to procure Head Up Display (HUD) Mk1N-NP and Bore Sighting Equipment for the Naval Light Combat Aircraft (LCA).

A Head-Up Display (HUD) is a critical component of a fighter aircraft’s cockpit. It projects vital flight information, sensor data, and navigation cues onto a transparent display, allowing pilots to view this information without diverting their gaze from their surroundings. This is particularly advantageous during high-speed maneuvers, landings, and combat situations, where split-second decisions are crucial.

The HUD Mk1N-NP is a specialized version of the HUD designed specifically for the Naval LCA. Compared to the standard HUD Mk1, the Mk1N-NP offers an increased field of view in the vertical direction. This caters to the unique needs of carrier-based operations, where the higher nose angle of the aircraft on landing requires a more extensive view over the nose for safe deck landings.

Bore Sighting Equipment plays a vital role in calibrating and aligning the HUD with the aircraft’s weapon systems. This ensures that the information displayed on the HUD accurately reflects the actual aiming point of the aircraft’s weapons.

By acquiring these technologies, CSIR-CSIO will equip the Naval LCA with a state-of-the-art targeting and navigation system, enhancing the aircraft’s operational capabilities and pilot safety during critical carrier operations.
