Residents of Nelong and Jadung villages, located on the strategically important India-China border, will soon have access to mobile phone connectivity for the first time. This initiative, undertaken by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), aims to bridge the digital divide and connect these remote communities with the rest of the country.

BSNL has already completed approximately 70% of the tower installation work in Nelong, with the first phase underway in Jadung. This will allow residents to make calls and access the internet, facilitating communication with family and friends, as well as opening doors to new opportunities.

The project extends beyond Nelong and Jadung, with plans to provide mobile connectivity to Ulana village in Dhontari and the isolated villages of Jaudaun and Silla in Bhatwari. These villages, currently lacking basic facilities like roads and communication, are set to benefit from improved connectivity within the next two to three months.

The initiative aligns with the central government’s Vibrant Plan to revitalize Nelong and Jadung villages, recognizing their strategic importance. Mobile connectivity not only empowers residents but also enhances security and communication along the border.

Installing towers in such remote and challenging terrain presents logistical hurdles. However, the government’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and ensuring connectivity for all citizens is driving the project forward.

The arrival of mobile connectivity in these remote villages marks a significant step towards bridging the digital divide and fostering inclusive development. This initiative holds the potential to improve communication, access to information, and economic opportunities for residents of these isolated communities.
