In a significant development, the Czech Republic has committed to procuring more ammunition from India to support Ukraine in its ongoing conflict with Russia. The announcement follows the successful delivery of Indian-made 125mm HE shells and 20mm mortars to Ukraine from Czech Republic in June.

Earlier this year, India exported a 50,000 of 125mm HE shells and 80,000 120mm mortars to the Czech Republic as part of a defense deal. The Czech Republic has now expressed its intention to increase these orders, leveraging funds from the frozen Russian assets held by the European Union.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has ramped up production of the Naval Anti-Ship Missile-Short Range (NASM-SR), fabricating 20 Thrust Vector Control Systems (TVCS) for the missile. This significant development indicates that the NASM-SR has entered Limited Serial Production (LSP), paving the way for user trials of the weapon system.

The NASM-SR, an indigenously developed anti-ship missile, has already undergone successful trials. In May 2022, the missile was successfully test-fired from a Seaking helicopter of the Indian Navy at the integrated test range (ITR) at Chandipur off the Odisha coast. A second successful trial was conducted in 2023, further validating the missile’s capabilities.

The Indian Navy’s P-8I aircraft has touched down at Air Base 125 Istres-Le Tube in France marking its first-ever deployment in Europe where it will participate in the 22nd edition of ‘Exercise Varuna’, said officials here.

The 2024 edition of Indo-French Bilateral Naval Exercise ‘Varuna’ is starting on Monday and will continue till September 4. Exercise Varuna will take place in the Mediterranean Sea and includes advanced tactical exercises underscoring the deepening synergy and interoperability between the two navies.

Bangladesh’s interim government wants to restart the dialogue on the Teesta water sharing treaty with India, adviser on water resources Syeda Rizwana Hasan has said, asserting that upper-riparian and lower-riparian countries should adhere to international principles on the distribution of water.

Speaking to PTI in Dhaka, Hasan expressed confidence that the Teesta treaty and other water-sharing agreements with India would be resolved amicably through dialogue but suggested that Bangladesh might consider international legal documents and principles if an agreement cannot be reached.

Development began in the fully connected digital ecosystem with Northrop Grumman, the customer and supplier users collaborating to develop, analyze, build and test the wings ahead of the Model 437’s first flight, which occurred on August 29.

The Digital Pathfinder project demonstrated how the company’s fully digital engineering ecosystem reduces engineering rework, accelerates schedule and reduces costs, offering advantages to customers on future aircraft programs. By utilizing real-world experiences gained on programs, including the B-21 Raider, the company continues to evolve its collaborative digital ecosystem, which connects the company, customers and supplier partners through the design, development and test phases on a variety of current and future programs.

Indian Visa Application Centres in Bangladesh’s major cities have begun offering limited appointment slots for Bangladeshi nationals requiring urgent medical and student visas. The services are being offered in Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Sylhet and Khulna.

“In addition, these five centres have also opened limited appointment slots for urgent cases where Bangladesh students and workers need to travel to third countries and for which they already have visa appointments with foreign embassies in India,” Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) in Bangladesh said in a statement.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his upcoming visit to Brunei Darussalam from September 3-4, will engage in discussions on all aspects of bilateral ties and explore new areas for cooperation. This will be the first ever bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Brunei.

The visit coincides with 40th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties between India and Brunei. Addressing a special briefing in the national capital on PM Modi’s visit, Secretary East, Ministry of External Affairs, Jaideep Mazumdar said that defence constitutes an important pillar of cooperation between India and Brunei and the two countries are working towards establishing a Joint working Group for cooperation in the defence sector.

Official sources said the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has summoned the content head of Netflix India on Tuesday, seeking an explanation on the allegedly contentious aspects of the OTT series. The depiction of hijackers of the Indian Airlines flight from Kathmandu to Delhi has kicked off a row with a section of viewers objecting to the ‘humane’ projection of the perpetrators.

An army jawan injured in a suspected terrorist attack on Monday at Sunjuwan Military Station succumbed during treatment at a hospital here. “One soldier suffered critical injuries in the firing and was evacuated to the hospital but he succumbed to the injuries,” sources said.

Army sources said that at about 10:50 AM few rounds were fired at Sunjawan Military Station, and one soldier was critically injured. They said that the operation is underway and further details are being ascertained.
