A ship controlled by U.S.-sanctioned Russian shipping giant Sovcomflot (SCF) discharged fuel oil at a western Indian port on Friday, two sources familiar with the matter said, indicating a resumption in the use of SCF vessels to supply Moscow’s key market after a brief halt.

The SCF Baltica, carrying 90,000 metric tons of fuel oil for Reliance Industries, operator of the world’s biggest refining complex at Jamnagar in Gujarat state, was expected to leave the port later on Friday after full discharge, the sources said.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that the perception of people living abroad had changed after seeing how India handled the COVID-19 pandemic and that the country’s lunar mission ‘Chandrayaan-3’ had a huge impact on Indians living abroad.

Addressing an event at Kirori Mal College today in Delhi, Mr Jaishankar noted that decisions made at home are keenly followed by the world. “We are the largest country in the world. We are the fifth largest economy, soon we’ll be the third. How we do at home is watched by everybody abroad. What decisions we make at home, is also very keenly followed by the world. So, if we are now in the coming weeks going to decide our future in whatever way we wish, it’s not just a conversation amongst ourselves. It’s a conversation or a discussion in which the other six billion people are also tuned in. These are all aspects of why Bharat matters,” he said.

On October 21, 2015, a 15-year-old Tibetan girl along with her sister was picked up by Chinese authorities in the Tibetan county of Ngaba and were put behind bars for three years for publicly displaying portraits of the Dalai Lama and demanding a “free” Tibet.

In June last year, the girl, Namkyi, arrived in India weeks after entering Nepal following a 10-day arduous journey on foot with a “firm” resolve to make people across the world aware about ‘Chinese repression’ in Tibet, according to her account. Namkyi, now 24, says she is currently studying at ’Sherab Gatsel Ling’, an educational institution run by the Tibetan government-in-exile in Himachal Pradesh’s Dharamshala.

Indian warship, INS Kochi on Sunday responded to the maritime security incident involving an attack on a Panama-flagged crude oil tanker, MV Andromeda Star PM, Indian Navy said in a statement on Sunday. The distressed oil tanker was intercepted by the Indian Navy ship and an aerial recce was carried out by the Indian Navy helicopter to assess the situation.

Additionally, an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was also deployed onboard the distressed vessel for residual risk assessment.

In a significant move to counter-terrorism, the Jammu-Kashmir police on Sunday seized a property worth lacs under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, Jammu and Kashmir police said. The property was used by terrorists for carrying out anti-national activities. The seizure was made in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

The property in question is a single-storey residential house located in Monghama Pulwama, which was used by terrorists for their shelter and stay. The logistic support to the terrorists was provided by the house owner Mohammad Lateef Kar, who allegedly has links to terrorist activities.

A Pakistani man who was apprehended after inadvertently entering Indian territory was handed over to the Pakistan Rangers on humanitarian grounds, a BSF spokesperson said on Sunday. Border Security Force (BSF) troops apprehended the Pakistani national near the border fence in Punjab’s Fazilka district on Saturday, the spokesperson said.

During questioning, it was learnt that he was unaware of the international border’s alignment and had inadvertently crossed into Indian territory, the official said.
