The Indian Army is bolstering the battlefield survivability of its tank fleet by integrating Saab’s Mobile Camouflage System (MCS) onto its T-90 and T-72 tanks. This move signifies a significant step towards enhanced protection for armored vehicles.

Tanks are most susceptible to detection and attack when they are mobile. Saab’s MCS aims to address this critical challenge.

The MCS offers a comprehensive camouflage solution. Here’s how it elevates tank protection:

  • Sensor Shielding: The system incorporates advanced materials that effectively counter detection by various enemy sensors, making it harder to pinpoint the tank’s location.
  • Heat Signature Reduction: The MCS boasts heat-reducing properties. This helps lower the tank’s thermal signature, making it less conspicuous to infrared targeting systems.
  • Improved Crew Endurance: By mitigating heat buildup within the tank, the MCS can improve crew comfort and extend the operational endurance of both personnel and onboard electronic equipment.

The integration of the MCS complements the existing armor and defensive systems of the T-90 and T-72 tanks. This multi-layered approach creates a more robust shield against enemy threats.
