Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has announced positive developments regarding the delivery schedule of the Tejas Mk1A fighter jets for the Indian Air Force (IAF).

Chairman and Managing Director of HAL, CB Ananthakrishnan, revealed that the company is aiming to deliver all 83 Tejas Mk1A jets by 2027-28, a year ahead of the original timeline of 2028-29. This signifies a significant improvement in production efficiency for the Tejas Mk1A program.

The expedited deliveries are attributed to HAL’s efforts to ramp up production. The company established a third production line specifically dedicated to the Tejas Mk1A at its Nashik facility in April 2023. This additional line, combined with the existing lines in Bengaluru, has bolstered HAL’s production capacity from 16 to 24 Tejas Mk1A jets per year.
