A Chinese woman entering India via Nepal without visa in the guise of a ‘sanyasini’ was caught and sent to Nepal after interrogation. A woman was spotted around 2 am Wednesday by a team of SSB patrolling the India-Nepal border, Champawat Superintendent of Police Ajay Ganpati said.

Her passport revealed her identity as 30 years old Yang Qiuhan, a Chinese citizen, he said. Qiuhan was wearing a safa around her head with ‘Om Namah Shivay’ written on it, ‘rudraksha’ mala around her neck, and a white dhoti, the SP said.

Jailed JKLF chief Yasin Malik on Friday said in the Supreme Court that he was a “political leader and not a terrorist” and claimed seven Prime Ministers had engaged in a dialogue with him in the past.

Appearing via video-conferencing before a bench of Justices Abhay S Oka and Ujjal Bhuyan, Malik referred to the submission of solicitor general Tushar Mehta, representing the CBI, that there were photos of him alongside terrorist Hafiz Saeed and it was covered by all national and regional dailies and television channels “This statement has created a public narrative against me. The union government has not listed my organisation as a terrorist organisation under UAPA. It is pertinent to note that post a unilateral ceasefire in 1994, I was not only provided bail in 32 cases but none of the cases were pursued,” Malik said.

The United States has revised downwards the import duties to be imposed on India from 27 per cent to 26 per cent, according to a White House document. hese duties will come into force from April 9.

While announcing the reciprocal tariffs against different countries on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump held up a chart that showed the tariffs that countries such as India, China, the UK, and the European Union will now have to pay.

The Heavy Engineering arm of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has despatched the fourth Steam Generator (SG) to the Kaiga Atomic Power Station in Karnataka, thus completing the delivery of a set of four SGs for one unit for the indigenously developed 10×700 MWe Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor Fleet Programme.

The fourth SG has been despatched nine months ahead of the contractual schedule, while the full set of four SGs has been delivered in 45 months. Setting a global benchmark, the first of the lot was delivered in just 33 months. These SGs are for Units 5 & 6 of the Kaiga Atomic Power Station.

Bharat Forge Chairman Baba Kalyani on Wednesday said that the company has supplied 100 guns, including 18 Advanced Towed Artillery Guns (ATAGs), to several countries, including those in Europe.

India’s prime minister urged Bangladesh’s interim leader to avoid rhetoric that mars bilateral relations during their first meeting on Friday since the ouster of Bangladeshi premier Sheikh Hasina, India’s foreign ministry said.

Defence tech startup Tonbo Imaging on Thursday said it has secured Rs 175 crore in Series D pre-IPO funding round from Florintree Advisors, Tenacity Ventures and the Export-Import Bank of India.

The funding comes as Tonbo prepares to file for its Initial Public Offering (IPO). This investment will accelerate the development of next-generation infrared sensors, commercial deployment of high-power microwave technologies to counter modern battlefield threats and working capital support for global expansion programs, Tonbo Imaging said in a statement.

The Manipur Police arrested 11 militants belonging to various banned outfits and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition during the past 24 hours, officials said here on Friday.

A police official said four militants were arrested from Imphal East district, five from Imphal West district and one each from Bishnupur and Thoubal districts. The arrested extremists belong to proscribed PREPAK, Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), United People’s Party of Kangleipak (UPPK) and Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) — all are Manipur’s valley-based outfits.

Communications Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia on Thursday in Parliament made it clear that satellite spectrum would be allocated administratively rather than through auction, aligning with global practices. “We cannot auction an asset which is not fully in our control. This applies not only to India but all countries on earth,” Jyotiraditya Scindia said, explaining the technical differences between mobile and satellite communications.

During the Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha, the minister elucidated that mobile technology operates on low-frequency waves that dissipate in the atmosphere, necessitating spectrum auctions to prevent signal interference. In contrast, satellite communications use higher frequencies transmitted directly like a laser through fixed antennas.
