The security forces and a group of terrorists on Monday briefly exchanged fire that triggered a gunfight in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. The encounter in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar has entered the third day as 2 to 3 terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area where the cordon is laid by the joint team of security forces.

“The encounter that started on September 21 near the Danna Dhar forest area at Gurinal village of Chatroo has entered the third day as fresh contact was established in the morning,” official sources said. They said that the firing resumed and contact was established with brief exchange of firing.

On September 13 two soldiers were martyred and as many were injured in a gunfight in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar district. On September 20, terrorists fired upon the security forces in the Reasi district.
