The European aviation giant Airbus on Thursday said that it has inaugurated its new India and South Asia headquarters located at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI). Union Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu inaugurated the office in the presence of Michael Schoellhorn, CEO of Airbus Defence and Space, and Rémi Maillard, President and Managing Director of Airbus in India and South Asia.
Airbus said that the new facility will serve as the epicentre for Airbus’ operations in India, housing all three business units – Commercial Aircraft, Helicopters and Defence & Space. “The inauguration of the new headquarters of Airbus in India and South Asia is another milestone in Airbus’ ambitious vision for India,” said Rémi Maillard.
Maillard also said that the company is on course to open a 5,000-seater Airbus Campus in Bengaluru next year. Airbus said that India has emerged as an attractive investment location to strengthen the resilience and performance of the global aviation supply chain. “Airbus procures more than 1 billion euros every year from a robust and comprehensive supply chain in India for components and services, generating more than 15,000 jobs. Additionally, Airbus India’s own engineering and digital centres in Bengaluru contribute to all the commercial and helicopter programmes of Airbus globally,” it said. Airbus is building two final assembly lines in India for the C295 military transporter and the H125 helicopters.
