Agnikul Cosmos, a leading Indian space tech startup, has achieved a significant milestone with the successful completion of a crucial ground test. This test paves the way for the upcoming launch of their orbital launch vehicle, Agnibaan.

The test showcased Agnikul’s indigenously developed data acquisition systems and flight computers. The test setup has meticulously replicated the Agnibaan SOrTeD (Small Orbital Reusable Test Demonstrator) vehicle and launchpad environment at Sriharikota, mirroring the actual launch conditions. The test also successfully validated the functionality of the entire avionics chain within the SOrTeD vehicle. This chain plays a critical role in controlling the vehicle’s propulsion system.

The test also executed the same Automated Launch Sequence (ALS) that will be used during the actual SOrTeD launch, ensuring a smooth and automated launch process. A specially designed vacuum-optimized version of the Agnilet engine, tested in this ground test, will power the second stage of Agnikul’s future orbital vehicle, Agnibaan.

With this successful test, the anticipation for Agnibaan’s launch has significantly increased. The ability to replicate the launch environment and successfully execute the automated launch sequence bodes well for a smooth liftoff. The future use of a vacuum-optimized Agnilet engine in the second stage adds another layer of promise to Agnibaan’s potential.
