The top commanders of the Indian Navy will hold a key meeting from Tuesday in the wake of the Bangladesh crisis and increasing instability in the region. With the resignation of Sheikh Hasina, the increasing presence of pro-Pakistan and pro-China forces in the country, and the increasing influence of radical Islamic groups, security problems have arisen for India.

In addition to this, increasing military support from Pakistan to Bangladesh and China’s activities are also key concerns. Defense officials said that these meetings will be held for four days from September 17 at the new naval headquarters in Delhi. This is the first conference since Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi took charge as the Chief of the Naval Staff in April this year.

Recently, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said at the Joint Commanders’ Conference in Lucknow that the defense forces should be prepared for the unexpected. Formulation of new Theater Commands will also be discussed in the meeting. Indian Navy conducts commanders level meeting twice a year. Earlier this year, the Navy reviewed operations in the Gulf of Aden against maritime piracy and drone attacks.
