The Indian Army’s long-awaited Hermes-900 Starliner drones, ordered from Adani Defence, appear to be fully ready for deployment. Recent images from Adani Defence showcase the drones in their final stages of preparation.
The Hermes-900 Starliner, designated IA 901, was initially scheduled to be handed over to the Army in May. However, the delivery was postponed for undisclosed reasons. Once deployed at the Bhatinda base, the drones will provide crucial surveillance capabilities along the western border with Pakistan.
The Indian Army has placed orders for two Hermes-900 Starliner drones under emergency provisions. These provisions mandate that the systems supplied by vendors must be more than 60% indigenous and comply with the “Make in India” initiative in defense.
The deployment of these drones signifies a significant step forward in the Indian Army’s modernization efforts. The Hermes-900 Starliner’s advanced capabilities will enhance the Army’s ability to monitor border activities and maintain situational awareness.
