However, sources within the Indian Army have clarified to idrw.org that these reports are a misrepresentation of the facts. The Indian Army had never intended to use its Apache helicopters in high-altitude regions, as they were specifically procured to support Strike Corps operations in more suitable terrains.

The Apache AH-64 attack helicopters, globally recognized for their firepower and versatility, were purchased by the Indian Army with a clear operational focus. Contrary to media reports suggesting performance issues in high-altitude environments, Army officials have confirmed that the helicopters were never intended for such roles.

Garuda Aerospace, a leading agritech startup based in Chennai, has announced its plans to concentrate on the development of swarm drones, tethered drones, and underwater drones. The company is also gearing up for the inauguration of its new Defence Drone Facility in Chennai.

The Defence Drone Facility, spanning 30,000 square feet, will be equipped with state-of-the-art design, manufacturing, and testing facilities. According to media reports, the large banner flew over the Hudson River and circled the Statue of Liberty, a global symbol of human dignity, freedom, and equality. India on Friday announced that External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will travel to Pakistan to attend a conclave of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in mid-October.

The announcement was made by external affairs ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal. The last Indian external affairs minister to visit Pakistan was Sushma Swaraj. She had travelled to Islamabad in December 2015 to attend a conference on Afghanistan.

The 15th edition of the Aero India show, one of the largest of its kind, will be held between February 10 to February 14 in 2025 at Bengaluru’s Yelahanka Air Force station, officials said. Hindustan Aeronautic Limited (HAL), the nodal agency that organizes defence events in the country, will organize the show this year.

Top Army officer in Kashmir valley Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai on Thursday said the Army would soon be “able to crack” encrypted handsets used by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. Talking to reporters here, Lt Gen Ghai acknowledged that the ‘Ultra’ communication was giving secrecy to terror groups but he assured that the work is in progress.

“Ultra communication has various layers of encryption and while presently, it is affording them the secrecy that they want. “But I assure you that work is happening in that regard and soon we will be able to crack that encryption and I am hoping that will further dent the terrorist ecosystem network,” Lt Gen Ghai said in his last press conference as commander of valley-based XV Corps. He will soon take over as Director General of Military Operations.

Stating the security situation has shown significant improvement in Kashmir, the outgoing General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Srinagar-based sensitive 15 Corps, Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai on Thursday said there are currently around 80 active terrorists in Kashmir, marking the lowest figure in many years. He attributed the presence of militants to external forces—Pakistan—who keep the number at a critical threshold to maintain the ecosystem of terrorism in the region.

“The official number, as put out by the multi-agency centre, stands at approximately 80. This is the lowest it has been in several years,” the outgoing GoC Lt Gen Ghai said during a press conference at the headquarters of the Army’s 15 Corps in Srinagar. Lt General Ghai will be succeeded by Lt General Prashant Shrivastava on October 15.

Two soldiers were injured in a mine blast near the Line of Control (LoC) in J&K’s Kupwara district on Friday, officials said. The incident occurred at around 3 a.m. when the soldiers were on patrol along the LoC, and the injured soldiers were identified as a havaldar and a naik of 19 Sikh.

“The injured soldiers were immediately shifted to hospital for treatment. Doctors said both the injured soldiers are stable,” an official said.
