France has expressed its commitment to support India’s ambitious 110kN engine development program. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in India’s efforts to achieve self-sufficiency in defense manufacturing.
As part of the agreement, France will provide technical expertise and support for the development of the 110kN engine, which is intended for use in India’s advanced medium combat aircraft (AMCA) program. This engine is considered crucial for India’s defense capabilities and will enable the AMCA to achieve long-range strike capabilities.

One of the latest examples is the AshwaBot, an advanced all-terrain robotic system developed by DefTech and GreenIndia Pvt Ltd, two start-ups supported by the Ministry of Defence’s iDEX (Innovations for Defence Excellence) initiative. This cutting-edge unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) exemplifies India’s growing capacity to design and manufacture critical defence technologies domestically.
The AshwaBot is a versatile UGV that can tackle rugged and diverse terrains with ease, making it ideal for military operations in difficult environments. With a top speed of 35 km/h, it is capable of keeping up with rapid deployment scenarios and can carry a payload of up to 100 kg, providing substantial logistical support during missions. This combination of speed and payload capacity makes AshwaBot suitable for a variety of tasks, from resupply and reconnaissance to transport of equipment and potential evacuation of injured personnel.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday took a swipe at the Congress party over former American President Donald Trump’s remarks describing Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the “nicest human being” and a “total killer”‘ in response to perceived threats. Taking to its official handle on X, the BJP compared PM Modi’s aggressive retaliation with Congress-led UPA’s “insipid response” to the terror attack in Mumbai.
“Former American President Donald Trump, in the Flagrant podcast, describes Prime Minister Modi as the nicest human being but also a total killer. He added that Modi took him by surprise with his threat of aggressive retaliation against Pakistan when he said we would handle them; India has defeated them for hundreds of years,” read BJP’s post.

The Kolkata airport got its first glance at the world’s largest cargo plane, which is also the biggest Airbus Beluga series aircraft, an official said on Wednesday. The plane, Beluga XL, is the upgraded and bigger version of Beluga ST. The overall length of the Beluga XL aircraft is 207 ft, its height is 62 ft and its wing span is 197 ft and 10 inches, according to the Airbus website.
Taking off from Bahrain International Airport, the aircraft with three pilots and one engineer on board landed here at 10.43 pm on Tuesday. It was received with a water salute, the spokesperson said.

Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday, October 9 announced that a Sukhoi fighter jet will take off from the Navi Mumbai International Airport this week. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was a “bigger fighter than the Sukhoi fighter jet” as he takes on the entire opposition alone, Shinde quipped at a program here where the PM virtually laid the foundation stone of various development projects in the poll-bound state.
The greenfield Navi Mumbai international airport near Mumbai is currently under construction. It is expected to be operational by March next year, officials had said earlier.

Shooting down their own brand new drone on video when it went out of control over Ukraine may be one of the biggest embarrassments ever suffered by the Russian Air Force. But there may be worse to come.
The Sukhoi S-70 Okhotnik-B (“Hunter-B”) was a prototype stealth combat drone, a ‘loyal wingman’ designed to operate alongside with the new Sukhoi Su-57 “Felon” fighter. After it was shot down by its accompanying Su-57, the Russians fired an Iskander missile at the crash suite to destroy the S-70 wreckage. Pictures show that well before the missile strike took place, the Ukrainians had already taken away key components for analysis.

An unknown drone flew near the Kadamba naval base near Vakkanalli in Argada here last night, raising new suspicions. The drone flew from behind the INS Patanjali Hospital in Vakkanalli to the underpass of the Binaga Quadrilateral Highway and was captured on a local’s mobile camera.
In view of safety, the use of drones and cameras is prohibited in the naval base area. At present, the video of the drone flight has been brought to the attention of the naval base authorities by the locals.

Ten more Pakistani nationals have been arrested on charges of staying illegally in India on fake documents, police said on Wednesday.
With this, the total number of Pakistani citizens held in connection with illegal stay by police in Jigani on Bengaluru outskirts has reached 17, they said.The latest arrests came after police held a man named Parvez who had allegedly helped and harboured 22 Pakistani citizens settle in Bengaluru and other parts of Karnataka with Hindu names, police said.
