The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to make history as it hosts Tarang Shakti, a monumental multinational air exercise that promises to be a spectacular display of aerial might and international cooperation. This grand event will see the participation of air forces from around the world, coming together to engage in a series of complex and challenging aerial maneuvers.  

Tarang Shakti is not just an exercise; it’s a meticulously choreographed aerial ballet. Participants will engage in a wide spectrum of combat scenarios, pushing the boundaries of aviation capabilities. Key highlights of the exercise include:

Mixed formation Air to Air Refuelling missions (MRTT & IL-78): The IAF will showcase its flexibility in refueling operations using different aircraft types.

Within Visual Range (WVR) Combat Missions: Pilots will test their skills in close-quarters aerial dogfights, demanding exceptional piloting expertise and tactical acumen.

Beyond Visual Range (BVR) Combat Missions: The exercise will showcase the prowess of modern air-to-air missiles, as pilots engage targets from beyond the naked eye.

Large Force Engagements (LFE): Coordinated operations involving multiple aircraft will simulate real-world combat scenarios, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and strategic planning.  

Air Mobility Operations: The exercise will demonstrate the IAF’s ability to rapidly deploy forces and equipment, highlighting the crucial role of airlift in modern warfare.

Low Light Operations: Pilots will test their capabilities in challenging night-time conditions, showcasing the IAF’s all-weather combat readiness.

Dynamic Targeting: The exercise will involve real-time target acquisition and engagement, demonstrating the IAF’s ability to adapt to rapidly changing battlefield situations.

Air to Air Refuelling Missions: This essential capability will be showcased, underscoring the IAF’s ability to extend the reach of its combat aircraft.

Combat Search And Rescue: The IAF’s commitment to protecting its personnel will be evident through simulated search and rescue operations.

High Value Aerial Asset Protection and Busting: The exercise will focus on safeguarding critical assets while also demonstrating the ability to neutralize enemy threats.
