Recent media reports claiming the infiltration of nearly 600 Pakistani Special Service Group (SSG) commandos into Kashmir for terrorist attacks have been debunked as fake news, according to sources close to idrw.org.

These reports alleged involvement of the SSG, led by Major General Adil Rahmani, in orchestrating attacks across Jammu and Kashmir. The claims also suggested airdropping of commandos and their deployment under Lt. Col. Shahid Saleem.

However, sources maintain that large-scale infiltration by an entire SSG unit is highly improbable. While the possibility of some SSG personnel being part of Border Action Teams (BAT) for targeted attacks on Indian positions cannot be entirely ruled out, such operations typically involve smaller teams.

Former DGP Dr. S.P. Vaid’s statement about Pakistan’s direct involvement in the attacks and the need for a similar response from India remains valid. The recent BAT activity in Kupwara district does point towards Pakistan’s role in escalating tensions.

Experts suggest a more nuanced approach to analyzing infiltration attempts. While infiltration of smaller, highly trained teams remains a threat, large-scale troop movements like those reported are unlikely.
