In a bid to counter the increasing threat posed by Pakistan-backed terrorists in the Jammu sector, the Indian Army is set to integrate Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) into its anti-terror operations. The decision comes in the wake of a surge in casualties among security forces in recent ambushes orchestrated by SSG-trained militants.
The sUAS are expected to play a crucial role in reconnaissance, providing real-time intelligence on terrorist hideouts and movements. Additionally, these drones could be equipped with small payloads capable of neutralizing threats without endangering human lives.
A growing number of Indian companies have already stepped up to meet the Army’s demand for sUAS, with several systems already deployed in the field. The Indian Army is anticipated to place additional orders in the near future to bolster its counter-terrorism capabilities.
The integration of sUAS into anti-terror operations marks a significant shift in tactics and is expected to provide a substantial advantage to the security forces operating in challenging terrain.
