The Hellenic Air Force of Greece has made a historic landing on Indian soil, marking the country’s first-ever fighter jet deployment in India. This significant event precedes the commencement of the multilateral air exercise, Tarang Shakti Phase 2, which will be held in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, from August 30 to September 14.

Greece’s participation in Tarang Shakti Phase 2 underscores its growing defense cooperation with other nations. The Hellenic Armed Forces have been actively engaged in various military drills worldwide, demonstrating their commitment to strengthening international partnerships. The memorandum on military cooperation signed between Greece and India in April 2023 further solidified the defense ties between the two countries.

For the Tarang Shakti exercise, the Greek Hellenic Force has deployed four F-16 jets from the 336 Squadron, which have arrived in Sulur, Tamil Nadu. These jets will be supported by two C-130 carriers, transporting technicians and necessary equipment.

The Tarang Shakti Phase 2 exercise will feature a diverse range of aerial operations, including air combat, defensive and offensive maneuvers, attacks on ground and surface targets, and coordinated efforts with international forces. This exercise provides an excellent platform for the participating nations to enhance their interoperability and strengthen their military capabilities.
