On a significant day for India’s aerospace industry, Dynamatic Technologies Ltd recently welcomed two high-ranking Airbus executives, Magali Collet, Head of Procurement Strategy & Governance at Airbus, and Thierry Cloutet, Head of Procurement for Airbus India & South Asia, to inaugurate the new Airbus A220 sub-assembly line at their facility. The event, which took place earlier this week, marks a milestone in the growing partnership between the Bengaluru-based engineering giant and the European aerospace leader, reinforcing India’s position in the global aerospace supply chain.

The inauguration of the Airbus A220 sub-assembly line underscores Dynamatic Technologies’ commitment to expanding its role in manufacturing critical components for one of Airbus’s most advanced aircraft. The A220, known for its efficiency, range, and passenger comfort, is a key player in the narrow-body aircraft market, catering to both regional and long-haul routes. This new sub-assembly line will focus on producing complex structural parts and assemblies for the A220, further solidifying Dynamatic’s reputation as a trusted Tier-1 supplier to Airbus.

During the event, Magali Collet and Thierry Cloutet toured the state-of-the-art facility, witnessing firsthand the advanced manufacturing capabilities and innovative processes that Dynamatic has developed. Their presence highlights the strong collaboration between the two companies, which has been building over years through various contracts, including the manufacturing of doors and other critical components for the A220 and other Airbus aircraft families like the A320 and A330.

In a symbolic gesture, Magali Collet planted a tree at the Dynamatic facility, symbolizing sustainability and the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility alongside its aerospace ambitions. This act was widely shared on social media, with Dynamatic Technologies posting updates on X, expressing gratitude for the visit and the ongoing partnership. Posts on the platform described the inauguration as a “wonderful” moment, emphasizing the shared vision of excellence and innovation between Dynamatic and Airbus.

The new sub-assembly line is part of a broader strategy to boost Airbus’s sourcing from India, aligning with the Indian government’s “Make in India” initiative. Earlier contracts, such as the one awarded in February 2024 for Dynamatic to manufacture all doors for the A220 family, have already positioned the company as a key player in Airbus’s global supply chain. The sub-assembly line inauguration is a natural progression, enabling Dynamatic to handle more intricate and value-added work, including the production of over 200 detailed parts requiring advanced tool design, forging, machining, and surface treatment.

Thierry Cloutet, with his deep experience in managing Airbus’s procurement operations in India and South Asia, played a pivotal role in fostering this partnership. His presence at the inauguration signals Airbus’s confidence in Dynamatic’s ability to meet global standards of quality, precision, and timeliness. Similarly, Magali Collet’s involvement underscores the strategic importance of India in Airbus’s broader procurement and governance framework, as the company aims to double its procurement from the region to $1.5 billion in the coming years.
