A new video released by Bharat Shakti has shed light on the sophisticated ejector system employed in the 800kg RudraM2 air-to-surface missile. This crucial component ensures the safe separation of the missile system from the launch aircraft, the Su-30MKI. Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the RudraM2 missile is a versatile weapon designed for both anti-radiation and anti-surface roles.

The video showcases the intricate workings of the ejector system, which is essential for propelling the missile away from the aircraft after launch. This ensures a safe distance between the two, preventing any potential damage or interference. The ejector system is a testament to the advanced engineering and precision manufacturing capabilities of DRDO.

The RudraM2 air-to-surface missile is designed to perform a dual role:

Anti-Surface: In addition to its anti-radiation capabilities, the RudraM2 can also engage surface targets, such as enemy bunkers, fortifications, and infrastructure, providing a versatile strike option for the IAF.

Anti-Radiation: The missile is capable of targeting and neutralizing enemy radar installations and communication networks, making it an effective tool for Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD) missions.

The RudraM2 is an aeroballistic missile weighing approximately 800 kg and capable of delivering a payload of around 200 kg. Its design and operational profile suggest an inherent potential for strategic roles, should the need arise. The missile’s versatility allows it to be adapted for various missions, from tactical strikes to more strategic operations, depending on the evolving needs of the Indian Armed Forces.

The integration of the RudraM2 with the Su-30MKI, one of the IAF’s premier multirole fighters, significantly enhances the aircraft’s combat capabilities. The Su-30MKI, equipped with the RudraM2, can engage a wide range of targets, from high-value enemy radars to hardened surface positions, making it a formidable platform in both offensive and defensive operations.
