The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is gearing up to showcase its indigenously developed Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM) weapon system at the upcoming Land Forces 2024 International Land Defence Exhibition. The event will be held from September 11th to 13th, 2024, at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, Australia.

The QRSAM is a state-of-the-art missile system manufactured by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL). This short-range air defense solution is designed to provide mobile protection for mechanized forces against aerial threats on the battlefield.

A key feature of the QRSAM is its capability for “Search on Move, Track on Move and Fire on Short Halts.” This allows the system to maintain operational readiness even while mobile, significantly enhancing its defensive effectiveness.

With a range of 25-30 kilometers, the QRSAM addresses a pressing requirement for the Indian Army. While the system successfully underwent trials in April 2024, further tests are expected to incorporate some suggested modifications from the Army.

DRDO’s participation in Land Forces 2024 presents a valuable opportunity to showcase the QRSAM’s capabilities to an international audience. This will not only promote India’s indigenous defense technologies but also generate potential export opportunities.
