A high-level delegation from the Brazilian Navy, led by Commander of the Brazilian Navy Admiral Marcos Sampaio Olsen, visited Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL) today. The delegation was warmly welcomed by the MDL team, led by the Commander.
The Brazilian Navy delegation toured an under-construction warship at the MDL shipyard, as well as the submarine facilities. They also visited the MDL Heritage Gallery, which showcases the shipyard’s rich history and achievements.
Following the tour, the Brazilian Navy delegation held discussions with the MDL team. The primary focus of the discussions was to explore opportunities for collaboration between the two navies, particularly in the area of submarine technology. Brazil operates the Scorpène class of submarines, and India also has six Kalvari-class submarines, which are based on the Scorpène design.
The Brazilian Navy is interested in procuring spares and parts for its Scorpène class submarines from India. This would not only benefit both countries but also strengthen the existing bilateral defense ties. The discussions between the two navies were productive, and it is expected that further collaborations will be explored in the near future.
