The Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), responsible for designing and developing India’s cutting-edge combat aircraft programs, has issued an Expression of Interest (EOI) inviting Indian private firms to participate in the manufacturing of structural assemblies for various aircraft. The initiative is a significant step towards accelerating the production of indigenous combat aircraft, including the LCA AF Mk2, Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), and Twin Engine Deck-Based Fighter (TEDBF), to meet the growing operational requirements of the Indian Air Force (IAF) and Indian Navy.

As India seeks to enhance its defense capabilities and bolster indigenous production, the participation of private industry in coordination with public sector firms has become crucial. The ADA’s move to involve Indian private companies in the development and manufacturing of structural assemblies is aimed at speeding up production and ensuring a more efficient and scalable manufacturing process.

The aircraft is typically divided into several major structural assemblies such as:

  • Front Fuselage
  • Centre Fuselage
  • Rear Fuselage
  • Wings
  • Vertical Tails
  • Canards
  • Horizontal Tails

These critical components, when manufactured through specialized private sector partnerships, can enhance the delivery timelines and overall quality of the aircraft.

The primary objective of this EOI is to outsource the manufacturing of structural assemblies, either in part or in full, to capable Indian private companies. ADA aims to identify firms that have the necessary facilities, capabilities, and production capacities to handle the manufacture of these complex aircraft components. By doing so, ADA is opening up opportunities for Indian firms to contribute to the nation’s defense production in a significant way.

Additionally, the selected firms will not only be tasked with producing these assemblies but also with developing structural test specimens and test boxes essential for validating the durability and performance of these components.

Interested Indian private firms with the requisite manufacturing facilities and expertise are encouraged to respond to the EOI. Once selected, these companies will be eligible to participate in the next level of the commercial process, which includes the development and manufacturing of the structural assemblies for the aircraft programs. This partnership will further integrate the private sector into India’s defense ecosystem, particularly in the production of sophisticated combat aircraft.
