A significant milestone has been achieved in the indigenous production of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, as confirmed by a company spokesperson to Sputnik. The manufacturing process for this potent weapon has now reached a 70% level of indigenization.

The BrahMos missile, a joint venture between India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Russia’s NPO Mashinostroeniye, has been a cornerstone of India’s military modernization efforts. The increasing level of indigenization in its production is a testament to the country’s growing self-reliance in defense technology.

The spokesperson emphasized the importance of this achievement, stating, “Reaching 70% indigenization in BrahMos manufacturing is a major step forward for India’s defense industry. It not only strengthens our national security but also boosts our export potential.”

The indigenization drive has involved a concerted effort to develop and manufacture critical components of the BrahMos missile within India. This includes components such as the airframe, propulsion system, and guidance systems. The increased domestic production not only reduces reliance on foreign imports but also creates jobs and stimulates economic growth.
