A day after ISRO successfully carried out the ignition trial of the indigenous CE20 cryogenic engine, its Chairman and Secretary of Department of Space V Narayanan on Saturday said that the test would be advantageous to missions.

The Chairman also said there were no glitches as reported in the media in ISRO’s first Space Docking Experiment (SpaDeX) mission. “We want to restart the cryogenic stage in the flight for mission advantages. So, we recently carried out a test towards that,” Narayanan told PTI on the sidelines of the 15th Biennial Edition of Aero India International Seminar 2025, held in Bengaluru.

Twenty-four stranded passengers were airlifted by the Indian Air Force (IAF) between Kargil and Srinagar on Saturday, marking the commencement of the AN-32 Kargil courier service, a lifeline to the Union Territory of Ladakh during winter months.

On the first day, 12 passengers travelled in the AN-32 Kargil courier service from Kargil to Srinagar and an equal number from Srinagar to Kargil, an official said.

In a major operation against the Left Wing Extremism, security forces gunned down 31 Naxalites during a fierce encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Sunday, police said.

Two security personnel were also killed and as many others injured in the face-off, they said. More than 650 security personnel entered the Indravati National Park area from different sides and eliminated 31 Naxalites in their den, Chhattisgarh’s Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma said.

Manipur Police arrested three militants from Imphal West district, an officer said on Sunday. Police arrested two militants of the banned United National Liberation Front (UNLF-Pambei) group from Narankonjil area of the district on Saturday.

The two militants were involved in extortion activity and also in illegal smuggling of arms and ammunition, the officer said. One .32 pistol and Rs 3,120 in cash was seized from their possession, he said.

Unidentified gunmen looted arms from a India Reserve Battalion (IRB) outpost in Manipur’s Thoubal district, officials said on Sunday.

The gunmen came in vehicles and looted arms from the IRB outpost in Kakmayai area of the district on Saturday night, they said. “Armed men who came in several vehicles looted at least six SLRs and three AK rifles from the personnel of IRB and Manipur Rifles from an outpost at Kakmayai in Thoubal district,” officials told PTI.
