All frontline aircraft, including the Rafale fighter jets and Prachand attack choppers, will take part in the Indian Air Force’s Exercise Vayushakti, Air Force Vice Chief-Air Marshal AP Singh said on Friday. The exercise is scheduled to be held on February 17 in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer. “All frontline aircraft, including the Rafale fighter jets and Prachand attack choppers, would be taking part in Exercise Vayushakti. We would also be airlifting Army guns in the exercise,” AP Singh said here. The exercise Vayushakti has been going on since 1954.

The Air Force Vice Chief said that the IAF would be showcasing its capability to carry out accurate bombing on targets in the exercise. “The Made in India LCA Tejas, Prachand attack helicopters and ALH Dhruv would be taking part. In a span of two hours, we would be dropping around 40-50 tonnes of ordnance in a one- to two-kilometer radius,” he said. “Army to fire weapons from Rudra choppers during the exercise and the Ultra Light Howitzer of the Army would be showcased underslung a Chinook chopper,” he added.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has launched an investigation into an overnight shooting incident at the South Surrey residence of Simranjeet Singh, a friend of India-designated Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Canada-based CBC news has reported.

In a statement, Surry RCMP said that they responded to reports of gunshots just after 1:20 am Thursday at a residence located near the 2800 block of 154 Street. CBC News reported that Corporal. Sarbjit Sangha said officers stayed in the area and spoke to neighbours and witnesses, and are currently reviewing CCTV footage to find out more about the shooting. No one was injured.

India and Maldives will hold the second core group meeting in the national capital over the presence of Indian military personnel in the island nation, sources said. The first meeting of the High-Level Core Group between the Maldives and India was held in Male on January 14.

India and the Maldives “agreed to fast-track the withdrawal of Indian military personnel” from the island nation, the Maldivian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said following the first core group meeting. “During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, both sides reviewed the existing bilateral cooperation. Discussions were held on a wide range of issues of mutual interest, including development cooperation,” the Maldives’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release earlier.

Major focus areas towards maximising administrative efficiency, digital initiatives, generic and specific training programmes and welfare activities have been identified for implementation in 2024. Naval Civilian Personnel constitute about a third of Indian Navy’s total workforce and contribute significantly to its operational effectiveness across all domains.

Civilian personnel impact the overall performance of Naval formations such as Command Headquarters, Dockyards, Material Organisations, NADs, Naval Armament Inspectorates, Training Establishments and several other types of support units. A number of initiatives have been conceived and implemented in the past in order to enhance organisational efficiency and satisfaction levels amongst civilian personnel.

Cash-strapped Pakistan on Thursday assured the Maldives of its support to address the “pressing development needs” of the island nation in the Indian Ocean. During a telephone conversation with President Mohamed Muizzu, Pakistan’s caretaker prime minister Anwaar-ul Haq Kakar discussed ways to fortify the bilateral ties between the two nations, the President’s Office said in a press release.

Muizzu has also “been assured of the support of the Pakistani government to address the pressing development needs of the Maldives,” it said.

America’s partnership with India is among the most consequential ones, the Biden administration said Thursday hours after it notified the Congress of its decision to sell 31 armed drones to India at an estimated cost of nearly USD 4 billion. “I would say that our partnership with India is one of our most consequential relationships. We work closely with India on our most vital priorities,” State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller told reporters at his daily news conference.

“We have had a close working relationship with the (outgoing Indian) ambassador (Taranjit Singh Sandhu), have been able to work with him on a number of those shared priorities, including the crucial role India plays in ensuring a free open Indo-Pacific that is connected, prosperous, secure, and resilient,” Miller said.

India’s indigenous light tank, named “Zorawar,” is gearing up for development trials in April-May.
