In the aftermath of India’s highly successful cruise missile strikes on Pakistani Air Force (PAF) airbases, global interest in the Indo-Russian BrahMos missile system has surged dramatically. Sources close to idrw.org have confirmed that the Indian Air Force (IAF) used a fraction—less than 1%—of its BrahMos missile inventory to conduct precision strikes that effectively grounded PAF operations within just 23 minutes. The results have sent shockwaves through defense communities worldwide, particularly for the missile’s demonstrated ability to evade and destroy advanced Chinese-supplied HQ-9 and HQ-16 air defense systems deployed at the targeted bases.
Capitalizing on this momentum, Russia is now actively marketing its own K-300P Bastion-P mobile coastal defense missile system—also known by its NATO designation SSC-5 “Stooge”—to international buyers. The Bastion-P employs the supersonic P-800 Oniks anti-ship cruise missile, which forms the foundational technology on which the BrahMos missile is based. Officials familiar with the matter told idrw.org that Russian state arms exporter Rosoboronexport has begun offering the Bastion-P to countries that have expressed interest in the BrahMos, hoping to leverage the shared lineage of the two systems.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has confirmed the development of the Netra MkII, an advanced Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) system, which will feature both side-looking and front-looking Active Phased Array (AESA) radar systems. This next-generation platform, set to be mounted on ex-Air India Airbus A321 aircraft, marks a significant leap in India’s aerial surveillance and command capabilities, enhancing the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) ability to monitor and respond to threats in real time.
The Netra MkII builds on the success of its predecessor, the Netra MkI, which is currently operational on the Embraer ERJ-145 platform with a 240-degree radar coverage. The MkII variant introduces a more comprehensive radar suite, incorporating side-looking and front-looking AESA radars. These radars, developed by DRDO’s Centre for Airborne Systems (CABS), utilize Gallium Nitride (GaN) Transmit-Receive Modules (TRMs), offering improved detection range, tracking accuracy, and resistance to electronic countermeasures compared to traditional systems.

Following the remarkable success of its upgraded L-70 40mm anti-aircraft guns in neutralizing Turkish drones deployed by Pakistan, the Indian Army is gearing up to announce a successor to these aging yet effective systems. Informed sources cited by idrw.org reveal that the Army is planning to issue tenders for the procurement of over 1,000 next-generation Air Defence (AD) guns in the first batch, signaling a major modernization drive for its air defense capabilities.
The L-70 guns, originally developed over five decades ago, have demonstrated their enduring relevance in recent conflicts, thanks to significant digital upgrades. Equipped with modern radar, electro-optical sensors, and auto-tracking systems, these guns have proven highly effective in countering unmanned aerial threats, including Turkish drones operated by Pakistan. The upgrades have enhanced the L-70’s precision and responsiveness, allowing it to adapt to the evolving demands of modern warfare.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to enhance its airborne surveillance capabilities by issuing an open tender for the procurement of six used Embraer EMB-145 aircraft, which will be converted into the advanced Netra Mk1A Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) systems. This move, part of India’s strategic push to bolster its air defense infrastructure, addresses critical gaps in airborne early warning capabilities amid rising regional tensions with neighbors like China and Pakistan.
The tender, expected to be floated soon, will leverage the global secondary market for EMB-145 airframes, with modifications to be carried out by the Centre for Airborne Systems (CABS) under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), in collaboration with Brazilian original equipment manufacturer (OEM) Embraer.

In a recent podcast with Dunya News, prominent Pakistani journalist, news anchor, and author Hamid Mir made a startling claim that has raised eyebrows across geopolitical and media circles. Mir alleged that during Pakistani Air Force (PAF) strikes on the Indian Air Force (IAF) Adampur airbase in Punjab, several Israeli defense experts were injured.
This assertion, presented without verifiable evidence, has been met with skepticism, especially given the lack of damage to the airbase as confirmed by satellite imagery and official Indian statements. Furthermore, Mir’s claim comes in the context of Pakistan’s broader narrative during the recent India-Pakistan tensions, where the PAF falsely claimed to have destroyed an S-400 air defense system at Adampur—a claim debunked within 24 hours of a ceasefire brokered at Pakistan’s request.

On June 9, 2025, Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) made a startling claim, asserting that its military had successfully breached the Secure Data Link (SDR) of India’s Rafale fighter jets, enabling real-time monitoring during Operation Sindoor on May 9–10, 2025. The assertion, widely circulated on X by pro-Pakistan accounts, suggested that Pakistan’s cyber and signals intelligence units intercepted critical data, including flight paths and weapon status, using advanced quantum computing capabilities. However, this claim is not only implausible but also exposes a significant gap between Pakistan’s technological prowess and the sophisticated encryption safeguarding the Rafale’s SDR.
With current Pakistani technology falling far short of the quantum computing threshold required to crack AES-256 encryption—estimated at around 6,681 logical qubits—such a feat remains a fantasy, highlighting the absurdity of the narrative.

In a significant escalation of Myanmar’s ongoing civil war, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), a rebel group opposing the military junta, claimed responsibility for shooting down a Myanmar Air Force FTC-2000G fighter jet in Sagaing Region on June 10, 2025. The incident, which occurred in Pale Township, marks a notable setback for the junta’s air operations and highlights the growing capability of resistance forces to challenge the military’s aerial dominance. This follows reports of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) downing two junta aircraft in Kachin State last month, signaling a rising threat to the Myanmar Air Force’s control of the skies.
According to Ni Ni Kyaw, General Secretary of the PLA, the group’s fighters shot down the FTC-2000G at approximately 12:30 p.m. on June 10, 2025, during a fierce battle for control of the Kan Dauk police station in Pale Township, Sagaing Region, located 39 miles southwest of Monywa. The jet, identified as a Chinese-made FTC-2000G light combat aircraft, was reportedly conducting retaliatory airstrikes against PLA and other resistance forces in the area. Ni Ni Kyaw stated that the military had dropped hundreds of bombs in Pale Township over the past week to support ground troops engaged in clashes with resistance groups. The PLA released video and images of the jet’s smoking wreckage in Sabarse village, showing the aircraft crashed into a monastery, though casualty details were not disclosed.
