In a significant stride toward bolstering India’s artillery capabilities, Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) and Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Defence have joined forces with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to develop the next-generation Pinaka Mk-III multi-barrel rocket launcher (MBRL) system. According to industry sources, the Indian Army is poised to receive the advanced system soon, with user trials scheduled to commence by the end of 2025. This collaboration, potentially valued at over ?25,000 crore, underscores India’s commitment to indigenous defence innovation under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
The Pinaka Mk-III, an evolution of the battle-proven Pinaka MBRL system, is designed to deliver enhanced range, precision, and firepower, positioning it as a cornerstone of the Indian Army’s artillery modernization. Developed by DRDO’s Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE) in Pune, the Mk-III boasts a range of 120 km, nearly doubling the 60–75 km reach of the Pinaka Mk-II. Its 300 mm caliber, compared to the 214 mm of earlier variants, accommodates advanced propellants and guidance systems, enabling precise strikes against high-value targets like command posts, logistics hubs, and air defence systems.

Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), a leading defence public sector undertaking headquartered in Kolkata, is charting an ambitious expansion plan to meet the surging demand for ships in India’s defence and commercial sectors, as well as export markets. The company, known for its advanced shipbuilding capabilities, is exploring the establishment of a greenfield shipbuilding plant outside Kolkata, marking a significant step in its growth strategy. defense journalist Shiv Aroor showcased a significant find: a piece of captured Chinese anti-riot armor, reportedly used during the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops. The gear, displayed in a glass case with the inscription “Bajrang Bali Ki Jai” and credited to Aroor (@ShivAroor), was seized by the Indian Army from a Chinese soldier, offering a rare glimpse into the equipment employed during the standoff.
The discovery lends credence to earlier reports suggesting that several People’s Liberation Army (PLA) soldiers were captured by Indian forces during the deadly confrontation on June 15-16, 2020, which resulted in significant casualties on both sides. The armored suit, designed for riot control, indicates the PLA’s preparedness for close-quarters combat, contrasting with the traditional narrative of the clash.

The SIPRI report has expressed concern over the increasing tension between India and Pakistan. The report says that China is increasing its nuclear capacity very rapidly. In view of such a situation, the nuclear arms race may start again around the world.
According to the report, India’s new ‘canisterized’ missiles are very safe. Nuclear weapons can be pre-loaded in them. These missiles can be capable of carrying nuclear weapons even in times of peace. In the future, these missiles can also be capable of carrying multiple nuclear weapons simultaneously.
