The United States and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have taken a significant step towards strengthening their military collaboration. In a joint statement issued following a meeting between President Joe Biden and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the White House on Monday, the US announced that the UAE would be recognized as a “major defense partner.”

This designation, previously granted only to India, will pave the way for unprecedented cooperation between the military forces of the US, UAE, and India, as well as other common military partners. The joint statement highlighted the potential for joint training, exercises, and military-to-military collaboration to enhance regional stability.

India has already established a strong and growing military partnership with the US, including joint development of military technology and equipment. In recent years, India’s military and security cooperation with the UAE has also expanded significantly.

The recognition of the UAE as a “major defense partner” signals a further deepening of US-UAE relations and underscores the importance of regional security cooperation in the Middle East. It also positions India as a key player in these partnerships, further enhancing its global strategic influence.
