In a significant boost to India’s defense export capabilities, Samtel Avionics System Ltd, based in Uttar Pradesh, has signed a contract with the Malaysian Air Force to equip its fleet of Sukhoi-30MKM fighter jets with Multi-Function Displays (MFD) and Head-Up Displays (HUD). This contract further strengthens the long-standing defense ties between India and Malaysia, while highlighting India’s growing role as a global defense technology provider.

The Multi-Function Displays (MFDs) being supplied by Samtel Avionics will enhance the capabilities of the Sukhoi-30MKM fighter jets by providing pilots with better situational awareness and a more intuitive interface to manage flight data and combat systems. Available in sizes of 5″x5″, 6″x6″, and 5″x4″, these MFDs will provide the Malaysian Air Force with advanced avionics that will modernize and extend the operational life of its Su-30MKM aircraft.

Samtel’s MFDs are already in use with the Indian Air Force’s Sukhoi-30MKI fleet, showcasing their proven reliability and functionality in high-performance fighter aircraft. The company has successfully delivered 1,000 units of these indigenously manufactured MFDs to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for installation in the IAF’s frontline Sukhoi-30 MKIs.

The Head-Up Displays (HUDs), also being provided to the Malaysian fleet, offer pilots critical flight information in their line of sight, allowing them to maintain focus on flying the aircraft without needing to look down at cockpit instruments. This system enhances pilot effectiveness during combat and high-speed maneuvers, giving Malaysian pilots a cutting-edge advantage.

The displays being supplied to Malaysia are the product of a successful joint venture between Samtel Avionics and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), known as Samtel HAL Display Systems (SHDS). This partnership has been instrumental in meeting the avionics needs of the Indian Air Force’s Sukhoi-30MKI fleet, which is the backbone of India’s air superiority. The collaboration between Samtel Avionics and HAL has resulted in the indigenous development and production of high-quality avionics, positioning India as a reliable exporter of advanced defense technologies.
