Lockheed Martin has confirmed that deliveries of all 14 remaining MH-60R Seahawk helicopters to the Indian Navy will be completed by next year. The company has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting India’s naval aviation capabilities with the timely delivery of these multi-mission helicopters.
Currently, ten MH-60R helicopters are available for operational use by the Indian Navy. Lockheed Martin stated, “Ten MH-60R helicopters are presently available to the Indian Navy for operations. A total of 24 MH-60Rs will be delivered to India over the next year.”
The MH-60R, widely regarded as one of the most advanced maritime helicopters, will enhance the Indian Navy’s anti-submarine warfare (ASW), anti-surface warfare (ASuW), and search-and-rescue (SAR) capabilities. These helicopters are equipped with state-of-the-art avionics, sensors, and weaponry, making them a critical asset for maritime operations.
India had signed a deal with the United States for 24 MH-60R helicopters under a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) agreement. The first batch of these helicopters was delivered in 2021, with subsequent deliveries continuing as per schedule.
With the full complement of MH-60R helicopters in service by next year, the Indian Navy will significantly bolster its fleet’s operational reach and effectiveness in safeguarding the country’s maritime interests.
