During the bustling opening day of IDEX and NAVDEX 2025 at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi, UAE, Indian Ambassador to the UAE, Shri Sunjay Sudhir, made a significant visit to the Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) stall. This visit came shortly after the ambassador inaugurated the India Pavilion at the exhibition, highlighting the strong maritime and defense ties between India and the UAE.

At the MDL stall, Ambassador Sudhir was briefed by Shri Biju George, Director (Shipbuilding), who provided an in-depth overview of MDL’s products, capabilities, and recent achievements. MDL, one of India’s premier defense public sector undertakings, is renowned for its shipbuilding and submarine construction capabilities, playing a pivotal role in strengthening the Indian Navy’s fleet.

MDL showcased its latest naval vessels and submarines, emphasizing their technological advancements and how these fit into modern naval warfare strategies. This included details on stealth frigates, destroyers, and the Scorpene-class submarines, which have significantly boosted India’s underwater combat capabilities.

Biju George highlighted MDL’s engineering prowess, including its ability to integrate advanced technology like Air-Independent Propulsion (AIP) systems for submarines, enhancing their endurance and stealth capabilities. The conversation also touched on MDL’s commitment to indigenization, aligning with India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.

The ambassador was briefed on MDL’s recent milestones, such as the delivery of the sixth and final Scorpene submarine to the Indian Navy, underscoring MDL’s role in Project 75. Discussions also included MDL’s participation in Project 75(I), aimed at further enhancing India’s naval strength with advanced submarines.
