India and France have successfully completed negotiations for the procurement of 26 Rafale-Marine (Rafale-M) fighter jets, a deal valued at approximately €7 billion. The agreement is expected to be formally signed in April during the visit of the French Defence Minister to India.

The acquisition of the Rafale-M fighters is a crucial step in strengthening the Indian Navy’s carrier-based air power. These advanced fighters will be deployed on India’s INS Vikrant and INS Vikramaditya aircraft carriers, significantly enhancing their operational capabilities in the Indo-Pacific region.

The Rafale-M is a naval variant of the Dassault Rafale, designed specifically for carrier operations. India will procure 22 Rafale M single seater that can take off and land from the decks of aircraft carriers and four Rafale B Trainer Variant that are only Land only Variant.

Indian Rafale-M will have the same features as the IAF’s 36 Rafale that including Meteor BVRAAMs and Astra Mk I missiles.
