ISRO on Sunday could not accomplish the launch of an Earth observation satellite onboard a PSLV-C61 rocket after it encountered some anomaly in its third stage, the space agency’s Chairman V Narayanan said.

ISRO’s trusted Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) is a 4-stage rocket and the first two stages were normal, he said. “Today we targeted the 101st launch from Sriharikota, the PSLVC61 EOS-09 mission. The PSLV is a four-stage vehicle and up to the second stage, the performance was normal. The third stage motor started perfectly but during the functioning of the third stage we are seeing an observation and the mission could not be accomplished,” Mr Narayanan said.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has slapped 11 new conditions on Pakistan for the $ 7 billion lifeline that it has extended and also flagged the rising tensions with India as a huge risk for the cash-strapped country.

The new conditions that have been imposed include approval of a new Rs 17.6 lakh crore budget, increasing debt servicing surcharge on electricity bills and lifting restrictions on the import of more than three-year-old used cars, according to a report in Pakistani newspaper Express Tribune.

 The Indian Army said on Sunday that no meeting of the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) of India and Pakistan was scheduled for Sunday, adding that the ceasefire between the two countries continues.

A defence ministry statement said, “Some media houses are reporting that the Ceasefire between India and Pakistan is ending today. In addition, queries are also being received if a DGMO-level talk is scheduled today? The response is as under:- No DGMO talks are scheduled today. As far as continuation of a break in hostilities, as decided in DGMOs interaction of 12 May is concerned, there is no expiry date to it.”

The Indian Army’s western command said on Sunday that ‘Operation Sindoor’ was planned, trained and executed to deliver Justice. The Western Command posted a video on X with narration showing soldiers buzzing with confidence about the success of ‘Operation Sindoor’.

The post read: “Planned, trained & executed. Justice served”. “It started with the Pahalgam terror attack. The country had no anger, but a desire to avenge the innocent killings. Pakistan was taught a lesson that its future generations won’t be able to forget. Pakistani pickets from where fire was opened at our positions were completely destroyed. It was not revenge, but justice which had to be delivered. Soldiers of the enemy deserted their posts and ran for their lives. Operation Sindoor was such a lesson that Pakistan had not learnt for decades,” the narration supporting the videos showing targeting of Pakistani pickets on the border, said.

Odia YouTuber Priyanka Senapati has issued a public clarification after her name surfaced in connection with Jyoti Malhotra, a YouTuber recently arrested on charges of spying for Pakistan. Reports claimed that Senapati had visited Pakistan a few days ago and shared videos and posts on Instagram. Photographs of her with Jyoti Malhotra have also circulated on social media, raising questions about their association.

In response, Senapati took to her social media stories to clarify her position. “Many people are asking me to clarify the matter. Jyoti was only a friend, and I came into contact with her through YouTube. I was completely unaware of the serious charges against her. Had I known she was spying for an enemy country, I would have never maintained any contact with her,” she wrote.

Ashoka University associate professor Ali Khan Mahmudabad has been arrested for his social media post on Operation Sindoor, police said here on Sunday. The action was taken on a complaint by a BJP Yuva Morcha leader.

“Ali Khan Mahmudabad has been arrested from Delhi,” Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ajeet Singh said over the phone. He has been arrested in connection with some comments connected with Operation Sindoor, he said.

Amid the ongoing Operation Sindoor against Pakistan, the defence forces are set to get a big boost of around Rs 40,000 crore to buy arms and ammunition. The approval for the acquisitions under emergency powers was granted recently by the Defence Acquisition Council in its meeting attended by top defence ministry and military brass, defence officials told ANI.

Under the emergency powers, the forces are focusing on buying equipment like surveillance drones, kamikaze drones, long range loitering munitions and ammunition for artillery, air defence and missiles and rockets of different types. The forces rained lot of heavy duty missiles including the BrahMos and Scalp cruise missiles at targets in Pakistan.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Sunday launched its 101st satellite, EOS-09, aboard the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C61), but it failed minutes later.  The 101st launch was done with PSLV-C61, carrying an Earth Observation Satellite, named as EOS-09, that was to be put in a Sun Synchronous Polar Orbit (SSPO). However, the EOS-09 mission could not be accomplished. According to the ISRO Chief, the PSLV 4-stage vehicle, and performance was normal till the second stage.

India on Saturday decided to allow entry of ready-made garments from Bangladesh only through Kolkata and Nhava Sheva sea ports and barred imports of a range of consumer items through land transit posts in the northeast — a move that is set to significantly hit Dhaka’s trade with New Delhi.

A late evening government notification said import of ready-made garments from Bangladesh will not be allowed entry into India through any land ports. Besides ready-made garments, plastics, wooden furniture, carbonated drinks, processed food items, fruit flavoured drinks, cotton and cotton yard waste will not be allowed to enter India through land customs stations and check posts in Meghalaya, Assam, Tripura and Mizoram, and Phulbari and Changrabandha in West Bengal, according to the notification.

Haris Malhotra, father of the woman arrested by Haryana Police on charges of spying, has said that his daughter made YouTube videos and had visited Pakistan. He demanded return of phones taken by police. He said police first came to their house on Thursday. He said police have taken their bank documents, phone, laptop, and passport.

He said his daughter used to visit Delhi and had been in Hisar for the last four-five days. “She made YouTube videos. She used to visit Pakistan and other places,” Haris Malhotra told ANI. Asked how many times she had visited Pakistan, Malhotra said he did not know. He said she went to Pakistan after getting necessary permissions. “If she has some friends there, can’t she call them? I have no demands, but give us our phones. A case has been registered against us,” he said.

In yet another move imitating India’s actions, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has asked former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari to present the country’s “case for peace” on foreign capitals. In another example of imitating India after facing humiliation in a four-day military escalation from May 7 to 10 during Operation Sindoor, Pakistan has asked Bhutto to present its case on a global stage.

Announcing the same, Bhutto said on X that he was contacted by Shehbaz Sharif, who asked him to lead a delegation.

The Telangana Police have arrested 20 Maoists and seized a large quantity of explosives and arms including Insas, SLR and .303 rifles on Saturday, an official said. This operation by security forces is being considered a significant move toward weakening the Maoist network in the region.

Following the conclusion of the “Karregutta Naxal Operation” in the Usur police station limits of Bijapur district, Telangana police have carried out a major operation targeting Maoist activities in the Mulugu district.

In a major step towards strengthening community-based security and harnessing the capabilities of former military personnel, the Sainik Welfare Board of J&K had moved a proposal for mobilising Ex-Servicemen (ESM) to safeguard vital infrastructure across the Union Territory.

A defence ministry statement said that this proposal has now been formally approved by the J&K Government, setting the stage for a unique collaboration between veterans and civil authorities. An official said that as per the approved plan, 4,000 Ex-Servicemen volunteers have been identified for this initiative. Among them, 435 individuals possess licensed personal weapons, significantly enhancing the capacity to respond effectively to localised security situations.

J&K Police on Saturday said that in a decisive action against subversive and criminal elements inimical to the security and public order, 23 terror associates of proscribed terror outfits involved in subversive activities and miscreants involved in public disturbance under the Public Safety Act (PSA) have been booked by Srinagar Police.

Police said these accused persons have been booked after obtaining formal detention orders from the office of the DM Srinagar based on dossiers prepared against them by the Srinagar Police.
