Enhancing maritime cooperation and strengthening Navy-to-Navy ties between the two nations, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Ship J S Murasame has made a port call at Kochi. The Japanese ship made the port call in Kochi from October 25 to 27, according to a defence statement here on Sunday. “A warm welcome was extended to the ship amidst fanfare by an Indian Naval band”, it said.
Cdr Hayakawa Masahiro, Commanding officer JS Murasame called on Cmde Sritanu Guru, Commodore Training, Southern Naval Command and discussed maritime issues of mutual interest, the statement said. During the visit, the Japanese side visited an Indian Naval ship at Southern Naval Command. “Professional interactions were held during the visit of the Indian side onboard Murasame, enhancing interoperability and sharing of best practices between the Navies,” it said. The Indian Navy and JMSDF have been engaging closely on various fronts including Naval exercises at bilateral and multilateral level.

Two cadres of the proscribed outfit People’s Liberation Army were arrested in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district, police said on Sunday. They were held by a team of Assam Rifles from the vicinity of border pillar number 87 on Saturday and handed over to the police, an official statement said.
The two have been identified as N Priyo Singh (21) and S Devjit Singh (21) and handed over to Pallel Police Station, it added. On Friday, security forces apprehended one cadre of the outlawed Prepak (Pro) from Yanghoubung village near the India-Myanmar border, an officer said.

“India is presently exporting military equipment to more than 100 nations across the world. The top three countries in the last financial year include the US, France and Armenia, official sources said on Sunday.
The Defence Ministry has been pushing defence exports and manufacturing in the country to improve domestic production of these equipment to meet internal and international requirements. The sources said the exports to the US include a significant number of parts of aircraft and helicopters manufactured by Indian firms for global defence majors like Lockheed Martin and Boeing.

India will have its own space station by 2035, which will be known as “Bharatiya Antriksh Station”, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh, said on Saturday.
He made the announcement at the signing of a landmark MoU between the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), that aims to integrate biotechnology with space technology, heralding a new era of scientific innovation in the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with his Spanish counterpart Pedro Sanchez, will inaugurate the Tata Advanced Systems Ltd’s (TASL) Tata Aircraft Complex, which will produce the C-295 military tactical transport aircraft, in Gujarat’s Vadodara on Monday.TASL will produce 40 C-295 aircraft in this factory, which will be the first private assembly line for military aircraft in India.
All work related to manufacturing, assembly, testing, delivery, and maintenance of aircraft will be done in this factory.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday stated that the countries from the Global South have a “high degree” of trust and expectations from India.
Addressing an interactive session with students at a university in Pune today, S Jaishankar said, “What do we mean by the Global South? We largely mean countries that were colonized, who got their independence or who are still developing, who would be largely low-income countries… They have a high degree of trust and expectation in India and with a reason.”

Around 500 lightly-armed Indian soldiers were all that stood between Srinagar and the Pashtun lashkars, backed by the Pakistani Army with men and material, as they closed in on Jammu and Kashmir summer capital on October 27, 1947.
However, their courageous commander’s decisive action stopped the invaders dead in their tracks. Lt Col Dewan Ranjit Rai, 34, a graduate of the Indian Military Academy’s first course — along with future Field Marshal S H F J ‘Sam’ Manekshaw, became the first officer to lead his men into conflict in free India as he held fast on the road to Srinagar, saving the city, and buying time for the build-up of further Indian forces. But, his heroism came at a cost.

Indian Army’s Romeo Force, in a joint operation with Special Operations Group (SOG) police, busted a terror hideout in the Balnoi sector in Poonch, officials said.
According to the Poonch police, the operation that took place on Saturday led to the recovery of two grenades and three Pakistani Mines from the hideout. Meanwhile, a search operation was carried out in Tangmarg and several parts of Jammu and Kashmir as the Indian Army and police intensified their searches to trace the accused in terror attacks in Gulmarg, Baramulla in north Kashmir and Gagangir in the Ganderbal district of the Union Territory.

An army soldier was killed and 13 people, including nine army personnel, were injured when their Army vehicle skidded off the road and overturned in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district, officials said on Saturday. The injured, which included four civilians, were taken to a hospital where their condition is stated to be stable, they said.
The accident in Kulgam’s D H Pora area happened during an operational move on Friday night, said the Army’s Srinagar-based 15 Corps, also known as Chinar Corps.

India will test its home-grown electric thrusters to steer satellites to its desired orbit, a technology that promises to make spacecraft lighter and pack more punch, in December. Delivering the Sardar Patel Lecture at Akashvani, Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) chairman S Somanath said the first Technology Demonstrator Satellite (TDS-01) using indigenously developed electric propulsion will be launched in December.
The TDS-01 will also demonstrate indigenously built traveling wave tube amplifiers (TWTAs) that are integral parts of various communication and microwave remote sensing payloads on satellites.

Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General M V Suchindra Kumar on Friday said the army has identified 135 areas where it seeks technological and industrial collaboration to fill operational gaps, with 93 research and development projects currently at various stages.
He said that the army has set up five joint command and control centres to ensure coordinated ground-level operations. “In Northern Command, we face multiple fronts and terrains — starting from the plains of Jammu, moving to hilly areas, and then to high-altitude and super high-altitude areas, such as eastern Ladakh. This region serves as a testing laboratory for equipment,” Lt Gen Kumar told reporters.

National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval on Friday stressed the critical role of the nation’s will in securing lasting peace post-conflict and questioned the core objectives of warfare. He said that the way to achieve military objectives is by breaking the will of the nation and defeating their Army breaks the nation’s will. “Why do we fight the wars? Is it for some vicarious pleasure in killing the adversary’s human resources? What are our military objectives and how do we achieve them? We achieve it by breaking the will of the nation and defeating their army breaks the nation’s will.
When you defeat them on the battleground, the nation is prepared to have peace with you on your terms,” Doval said at the launch of Indian Strategic Culture by Maj Gen (Retired) Dr GD Bakshi. He suggested that nations often overlook this vital aspect of strategy, instead focusing on military manoeuvres and armament rather than the collective resolve of their citizens.

India first raised the presence of organised crime in Canada but the issue was ignored because of a permissive atmosphere for a long time, EAM S Jaishankar said on Saturday, rejecting the targeting of its High Commissioner and diplomats by the Trudeau government.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday said the breakthrough agreement with China on patrolling along the LAC does not mean that issues between the two countries have been resolved, however, the disengagement allows us to look at the next step.
He credited the military, which worked in “very very unimaginable” conditions, and deft diplomacy for the breakthrough agreement with China.
