Airbus and Boeing have forecasted nearly 2000 aircraft orders from Indian airlines, prompting the Indian government to request that Airbus and Boeing set up final assembly lines in the country. Tata backed Air India and Indigo are planning to place orders for nearly 700 aircrafts withing them and New Indian Airline companies like Akasa Air might add more 100 in their fleet soon.

The government is dissatisfied with Airbus and Boeing’s sole procurement of components and systems from Indian manufacturers and wants them to establish final assembly lines in the country in order to nurture and create an Indian aerospace ecosystem.

Both Airbus and Boeing are counting on Indian orders to meet their sales projections for the next 20-30 years, and smaller companies like V and regional aircraft manufacturers like ATR have expressed interest in establishing local manufacturing lines.
