Hyderabad-based defense contractor VEM Technologies that is making the central fuselage for the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas Mk1A program on behalf of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) speaking to the media said that company is also interested in being part of the supply chain not only for the LCA-Tejas program but also for the Tejas mk2 and AMCA program.
Last year VEM Technologies handed over the first Centre Fuselage for LCA made by the company after being trained by HAL to carry out the assembly of the Centre Fuselage with 1595 parts of Mechanical and Composite structures that were later certified by HAL QC and DGAQA.
VEM Technologies is setting up an integrated defense systems (IDS) facility at the National Investment & Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) at Zaheerabad in Sangareddy district on Hyderabad’s outskirts at an investment of around Rs 1000 crore.
VEM Technologies is in charge of making a full-scale ground testing model of the AMCA to be used for Radar Cross-section Measurement and calibration at DRDO’s Orange (open range) testing facility in Dundigal near Hyderabad. This facility has an Instrumentation Radar System that is capable of measuring low RCS values at the test range and is also capable of diagnosing hot spots.
