In a military operation that started in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday afternoon, an unidentified militant has been killed while the search operations are ongoing. Officials confirmed the killing of one militant; however, the identity of the slain is yet to be ascertained.
Earlier an official said that a joint team of JK Police, Army’s 44 RR and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area. He said that as the joint team of armed forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering the operation.
Pertinently, 47 militants have been killed in JK so far this year and most of them belong to the Shopian district.
