In a significant boost to India’s defense capabilities, Bengaluru-based Tonbo Imaging has confirmed the dispatch of the second lot of Arjun Thermal Imaging (TI) Sights under a capital procurement contract for Medium Machine Guns (MMGs) for the Indian Army. This development marks Tonbo Imaging’s steadfast commitment to providing cutting-edge night vision and imaging solutions to the nation’s military forces.
The announcement was made with a sense of national pride, emphasizing the indigenous design and manufacturing of the Arjun TI Sights. “Proudly #madeinindia, for #India!” was the celebratory message from Tonbo Imaging, highlighting their role in supporting India’s defense autonomy and innovation as the country moves into 2025.
The Arjun TI Sight is not just another piece of military hardware; it’s a testament to advanced engineering tailored for the battlefield. It’s a small, lightweight, multi-purpose uncooled thermal imaging sight that can be adapted for a variety of roles. Whether used as a standalone sight, a CLIP-ON attachment, a handheld scope, or even mounted on a helmet, Arjun caters to the diverse needs of modern warfare.
At its core, the Arjun TI Sight employs Tonbo’s proprietary HawkVision technology, which features a shutterless thermal imaging system. This system includes a 640×480 micro-bolometer array on a 17µm pitch, ensuring high-resolution thermal imaging. The incorporation of advanced thermal image processing further enhances its capability to detect and engage targets in low visibility conditions.
