TATA has started deliveries of the first batch of WhAP 8 x 8 (Wheeled Armored Platform) that will be going to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). In an undated video going viral on social media platforms, 3 WhAP can be seen coming of TATA facility heading towards three paramilitary organizations with whom it will be going through user trials before it can start getting major orders.
WhAP delivered seems to have got some design changes as seen in the picture that includes raised armored driver station that might be done for better visibility at the urban environment, especially for the Counter-insurgency roles.
TATA recently got orders for six units of WhAP that are to be tested by the Paramilitary forces with CRPF, Assam Rifles, and BSF being some selected to get the first batch. TATA has confirmed that the Indian Army-owned WhAP completed all Internal user trials and with changes and new features requested, TATA is hoping to close a mega-deal with the Indian Army in near future.
