During a training exercise in Sikkim, Assistant Leader Lhagyal of a Special Forces Unit was killed when his parachute malfunctioned. On Tuesday, he was practising along the Indo-China border. The army later recovered the paratrooper’s body and sent it for autopsy; he has been working with Paratrooper 6 Vikas Regiment for the past eight years.
This afternoon, the army recovered his gruesome body from the forest. He was first taken to a local hospital in Sikkim, where the attending doctor declared him dead.
Lhagyal was 40 years old, a 22-year-old skilled jumper with more than 100-foot falls, and a resident of Ravangla in the Namchi district of southern Sikkim.
