In a concerning development, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, founder of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) and a proponent of Khalistani separatism, has released an audio message calling on Kashmiri Muslims to disrupt the upcoming G20 Summit scheduled to be held in New Delhi on September 9 and 10.
In the audio message, Pannun is heard urging Kashmiri Muslims living in the Valley to travel to Delhi and participate in activities aimed at disrupting the international summit. He specifically called on people to march to Pragati Maidan, the venue of the G20 Summit, after Friday prayers. Additionally, Pannun issued a threat to hoist the Khalistani flag at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi.
This troubling development comes on the heels of recent incidents in which pro-Khalistan graffiti appeared in several metro stations across Delhi. In response to these acts of vandalism, two individuals associated with SFJ were arrested for their involvement in painting anti-India slogans. Authorities believe that these slogans were carried out at the behest of Gurpatwant Singh Pannu.
The slogans, which included messages like ‘Delhi Banega Khalistan’ (Delhi will become Khalistan) and ‘Khalistan Referendum Zindabad’ (Long live Khalistan Referendum), were sprayed in black on the walls of metro stations in various parts of west Delhi.
Security officials have expressed concerns over Pannun’s audio message, suggesting a potential connection between his activities and the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency’s K2 (Kashmir-Khalistan) agenda. This revelation has raised alarms, underscoring the need for heightened security measures in the run-up to the G20 Summit.
The G20 Summit is a critical international event that brings together leaders from the world’s major economies to discuss and address global challenges, including economic stability, climate change, and security. Any attempts to disrupt such a summit not only threaten the safety and security of the participating nations but also undermine diplomatic efforts aimed at finding solutions to pressing global issues.
Indian authorities are taking these threats seriously and are working diligently to ensure the safety and security of the G20 Summit and its participants. The situation is evolving, and security forces are on high alert to prevent any potential disruptions during the summit.
