In a significant development for India’s defense export sector, Major General V Arya (Retd.), Executive Director of Solar Industries, has revealed that Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, and Indonesia have expressed keen interest in acquiring the Guided Pinaka Rocket System.

This follows India’s successful export of the advanced rocket system to Armenia, marking a milestone in the country’s growing defense manufacturing capabilities. The Guided Pinaka, an upgraded version of the indigenous Pinaka Multi-Barrel Rocket Launcher (MBRL) system, has garnered international attention due to its precision, range, and destructive power.

Developed by India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in collaboration with private industry partners like Solar Industries, the system is designed to deliver high-accuracy strikes at ranges exceeding 75 kilometers, making it a formidable asset for modern warfare.Maj. Gen. Arya highlighted the system’s appeal during a recent statement, noting that the successful delivery of the Guided Pinaka to Armenia has showcased India’s ability to produce world-class defense equipment.

“The export to Armenia has opened doors for further discussions with nations like Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, and Indonesia, who are now exploring the system for their own defense needs,” he said. The Guided Pinaka’s advanced features, including its precision-guided munitions and enhanced mobility, make it an attractive option for countries seeking cost-effective yet powerful artillery systems.

Its ability to fire a variety of warheads, coupled with its compatibility with modern battlefield technologies, has positioned it as a versatile solution for both conventional and asymmetric warfare.India’s defense exports have seen a remarkable rise in recent years, with the country expanding its footprint in the global arms market.

The interest from Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, and Indonesia underscores the growing trust in India’s indigenous defense technologies. Solar Industries, a key player in ammunition and explosives manufacturing, has been instrumental in scaling up production to meet both domestic and international demand.

This development aligns with India’s broader push to bolster its defense exports under the “Make in India” initiative, which aims to position the country as a global hub for defense manufacturing. The potential deals with these nations could further strengthen India’s strategic partnerships in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, while also contributing to its economic growth.
