Ritu Raj Tyagi, Marketing Director, Aeronautics, Saab India said that Saab is in the final stages of carrying out a full Transfer of Technology for its Integrated Defence Aids Suite (IDAS) to India’s state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and also has confirmed that the future version of IDAS-3 will jointly be developed with HAL in India.

Saab’s Integrated Defence Aids Suite (IDAS) system was first integrated with the Indian Army and Air Force’s version of ALH (Dhruv) in the year 2005 and more than 200 Dhruv Helicopters including ALG-Rudra WSI an Armed variant in service with the Indian Air Force and the Indian Army helicopters have been equipped with the IDAS system and in future will also be equipped on the HAL developed Light Combat Helicopter (LCH).

IDAS is a combination of radar warning receivers supported by the missile and laser warning receivers that with the right tactics and countermeasures offers the combat helicopter a superior situational awareness with an ability to act fast in response to multiple threats. IDAS integrates laser warning sensors with the ability to detect four types of laser threats, Laser Rangefinder, Laser Beamrider, Laser Designator & Dazzlers).
