Liquid Robotics, a Boeing company, and India-based Sagar Defence Engineering Private Limited have announced a strategic partnership to co-develop and co-produce scaled Uncrewed Surface Vehicle (USV) systems. This collaboration aims to strengthen maritime security in the Indo-Pacific region and promote defense cooperation between the United States and India.

The Wave Glider, Liquid Robotics’ flagship USV, is an ideal platform for this partnership due to its endurance, reliability, and adaptability. Powered by wave and solar energy, the Wave Glider can operate continuously for months, providing real-time data and communications for various applications.

Through an Exclusive Teaming Agreement, Liquid Robotics and Sagar Defence will jointly pursue co-development initiatives and large-scale co-production of Wave Gliders for the Indian Navy. Sagar Defence, with its expertise in vehicle control systems, sensor integration, and unmanned system manufacturing, will play a pivotal role in the partnership.

“Our co-development and co-production partnership is a testament to the capabilities of Indian defense firms manufacturing and delivering at global benchmarks,” said Nikunj Parashar, Co-Founder of Sagar Defence. “This also underscores both partners’ efforts to help bolster India’s vision of Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance) in defense, while advancing regional and global maritime security.”

The partnership between Liquid Robotics and Sagar Defence is expected to yield co-produced Wave Gliders as early as 2025. This collaboration will not only contribute to India’s defense capabilities but also pave the way for further advancements in unmanned maritime technologies.
