The 17th edition of the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) and the 8th edition of the Naval Defence and Maritime Security Exhibition (NAVDEX) commenced on February 17, 2025, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, this year’s events mark a significant milestone in their 32-year history, emerging as the largest editions to date.
Organized by the ADNEC Group in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Defence and the Tawazun Council, IDEX and NAVDEX 2025 bring together leading global defense companies, military leaders, policymakers, and experts to showcase cutting-edge technologies and foster international collaboration in the defense and security sectors.
The exhibitions, running from February 17 to 21, 2025, are set to attract over 150,000 visitors, including senior government officials, military delegations, and defense industry executives. With more than 1,565 exhibitors from 65 countries, the events occupy an expansive 181,501 square meters of exhibition space—a 10% increase from the previous edition. Among the standout participants is India’s Kalyani Group, which has showcased its indigenous MaRG 155mm artillery system, drawing attention to India’s growing prowess in defense manufacturing.
The MaRG 155mm is tailored for mountainous and rugged environments, making it an ideal solution for the Indian Army’s operational needs along its northern and western borders. With a firing range of approximately 30 kilometers (extendable with advanced ammunition), the system offers a balance of mobility, firepower, and precision. Its lightweight design allows for easy transportation by helicopters or trucks, enhancing its utility in high-altitude and difficult-to-access regions. The MaRG is also equipped with modern fire control systems, ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in combat scenarios.
Kalyani Group’s participation at IDEX 2025 is not limited to the MaRG 155mm. The company has hinted at launching additional new products during the exhibition, further showcasing its growing portfolio of defense solutions. This aligns with India’s broader strategy to expand its presence in the global defense market, leveraging events like IDEX to demonstrate its technological capabilities and forge international partnerships.
